In my infinite wisdom — and because I wanted some variety — I thought it would be a good idea to make cut-out cookies for my personal use for Valentine’s Day. (Similar to other baking experiments…again I learned I should stick to cupcakes.) They turned out okay. The second batch was thinner than the first so logically they didn’t need as much time in the oven as the thicker first batch. While baking, however, I was distracted and they burned. Ugh. With all the red and pink and white sprinkles one might hardly notice the dark bottoms and edges. It’s the thought that counts anyway, right?
Happy Valentine’s Day!

The cupcakes below were made during this past weekend’s snowstorm and then devoured on Sunday at a Superbowl celebration. A combination of Valentine’s Day and the spirit of eternal snacking all wrapped into one! Yum!

I’m sure you’ve probably heard that the Philadelphia area has been hit hard with snow this past weekend, Tuesday night and Wednesday. It’s the most snow I think I’ve ever seen. Seriously.

Snow on a tree near my house – see it stuck between the branches!

Snow piling up near my outside heat unit and between the fence posts.
Valentine’s cards with cupcakes on them are an excellent way to pick up one’s spirit while snowed in and stir crazy. I received the one below from two very special parents. Thanks Mom and Dad!

We’re in the middle of the most Cookie Dough cupcake orders we’ve ever had in such a short period of time! Awesome! Today the Cookie Dough beauties were delivered to another university student in the Philadelphia area! We hope they help warm up his birthday! We’ve had colder days lately, however, something about today makes it feel EXTRA cold! (It says it’s around 30 degrees.) The photo below shows the cupcakes in their 3 stages of creation!

Spring training for baseball begins in about one month! Awesome. Go Phils! It was around 17 degrees in the Philadelphia area earlier this morning. We need to think warmer! Think Florida. Think spring!

If you are planning on visiting exciting New York City soon there is an article in Time Out New York that has a helpful interactive map of cupcake locations and offerings throughout the city. The article also includes an awesome cupcake illustration above the map. If you’re a cupcake aficionado headed to New York City don’t go without reviewing it! We’re jealous. Have fun!
